Welcome

I am Dania, and this is my personal site. Here you'll find commentaries added from time to time, analyses of issues which are of interest to me, and other writings on all sorts of topics - also of interest to me.
I am a spiritual person, I believe that the sanctity of life holds over individual wants, and that we are not merely animals but human beings. I hold strong values on freedom, the main one being that freedom is impossible without responsibility. I respect, have a high regard for, and value difference and the dignity of individuals, families and communities. I think that even when we differ on matters of importance, truthfulness, respect and tolerance are the way forward.
At the same time, I am impatient with, and I don't easily suffer fools and liars, and I particularly detest those who resort to manipulation, misrepresentation and smear in order to forward political and activist agendas which restrict and demonise other views. Having experienced life under a communist regime as a child, I have developed an acute sense of what propaganda and political manipulation are. I hate these evils with a passion, because I saw and experienced what it is to be a powerless slave to ideology, and how it transforms otherwise intelligent individuals into instruments of tyranny.
I will be spending some time on my blogs here discussing online media and commentaries which misrepresent issues and facts, and are partisan to the extent that they harm individuals and communities and restrict freedom of expression. I am trying to delve beyond one-line slogans, labels and marketing hype, and so my writings may be a bit long-winded and even dense at times. I must also apologise in advance for the quality of my prose, English is not my first language, so I would be very grateful for genuine comments if I should make insufferable grammatical or expression mistakes. On balance, I am keener for what I have to say to come through, and I am prepared to be embarrassed by such mistakes in order to achieve this.
I am certainly happy to debate and discuss issues of common interest with others, but only under condition that this is done in a civil and respectful manner. This does not mean that you have to agree with me, but it does mean that if you wish to refute my points you ought to do so with evidence and good argument. I guarantee that I will do my best to correct any inaccuracies or misconceptions that appear in my writings. I also reserve the right to contradict and restrict what appears on my website, and the right to not enter into negotiations or arguments about this. If this is not to your liking, I thank you for visiting my site, and invite you to navigate away. If these broad rules are okay with you, then you are very welcome to stay and potter around.
